Saree Unboxing Video: How to Record One (and Why We Ask)
Unboxing:
the 60-second habit.
A saree unboxing video takes a minute to record and settles almost every delivery problem. Here’s how to do it properly, and why we ask for one.
A handloom saree passes through several hands on its way to you: the weaver who packs it, the courier who carries it, and you. If something arrives damaged or wrong, the one thing that tells us exactly what happened is a saree unboxing video. It’s the single most useful habit you can have when you order handloom.
Why a saree unboxing video protects you
Handloom pieces are one of a kind, so a problem can’t be solved by “sending another one”. A continuous video of the parcel being opened shows what it looked like on arrival: whether the packaging was intact, what was inside, and whether the piece is the one you ordered. That lets us sort things out quickly and fairly with the courier and the weaver, instead of arguing over photos taken afterwards.
That’s why, for any return or complaint, we ask for an unboxing video, and you need to tell us within 7 days of delivery. Our Shipping & Returns page has the full policy.
Recording a saree unboxing video, step by step
- Start before you touch the parcel. Begin recording with the package still sealed.
- Show the outside. Turn the parcel slowly so all sides are visible, including the label and the AWB (tracking) number.
- Keep it one continuous take. No cuts and no pauses until the saree is fully out, so there’s no doubt about what came in the box.
- Open it on camera. Unfold the saree slowly and show the front, the back, the pallu, both borders, and any blouse piece or fall that’s part of your order.
- Use good light. Daylight is best, and a steady phone helps. Say your order name aloud, or show the order message on screen.
- Keep the packaging. Hold on to the box and wrapping until you’re sure everything is fine.
- Check before you stitch. Once fall, pico or blouse stitching has been done, a saree can’t be returned, so inspect it fully before sending it to a tailor.
One to two minutes is plenty. A short, steady, unbroken video is far more useful than a long one.
Handloom character versus a real defect
Handloom isn’t powerloom. Small irregularities in the weave, a slight colour difference from the photo, soft edges on a hand-block print, or some colour bleed in the first washes are part of what makes it handloom, and they aren’t defects. A hole, a tear, a stain, or the wrong item, colour, or size being sent is a defect. If you’re unsure which one you’re looking at, your video helps us tell you honestly. Our guide to buying handloom sarees online explains more about what to expect.
What to do next
- Message us on WhatsApp within 7 days of delivery with your unboxing video, a few photos of the problem, and your order details.
- Don’t send anything back yet. We’ll talk it through first, including who covers return shipping, which is agreed with you before anything is returned.
- Refunds follow the check. Once the piece reaches us or the weaver and has been checked, we refund you.
We always try to work things out fairly for both you and the weaver. A good unboxing video makes that much easier, which is the main reason we insist on one.
